Overview
The Hella Marine 358107592 is a 12V, 15W festoon replacement bulb in the SV8.5-8 (6451 / C5W) format.
It uses the common 41 mm festoon length found in many Hella Marine navigation, courtesy, and interior fixtures that clamp the bulb between spring contacts at each end. It is intended for 12V DC systems only, so confirm your light is not wired for 24V before installing.
Key features
- 12V, 15W incandescent bulb for standard onboard DC lighting circuits
- SV8.5-8 festoon end caps (trade number 6451 / C5W) for fixtures that hold the bulb at both ends
- 41 mm overall length for the common 15 x 41 mm festoon size used in many marine light housings
- Clear glass for the familiar white incandescent light output
- Non-polarized fit, so it will light regardless of which way it is installed
Compatibility and fit
Match this bulb to your existing lamp by checking three things: system voltage, festoon end-cap style (SV8.5-8), and length. If your old bulb measures around 41 mm end-to-end and sits in spring clips, this is the same format. If your fixture takes a bayonet, wedge, or screw base, it will not fit.
Installation and handling
Switch the circuit off and let the lens cool before opening the fixture. Seat one end cap into the spring contact, compress slightly, then drop the other end into place so both contacts land squarely. Clean, dry fingers or a cloth help keep the glass free of oils that can bake on over time.
Use cases on board
This bulb is a good match for boaters maintaining existing incandescent navigation or interior lights and for keeping a spare aboard for quick swaps at the dock or underway. It is also handy when troubleshooting a dim light, since a fresh bulb helps separate wiring issues from a tired lamp.
Maintenance and care
If a festoon lamp flickers on rough water, check that the spring contacts still grip the end caps firmly and that the contacts are clean. Any corrosion on the contacts should be removed carefully so the bulb seats tight and runs cooler.
