Overview
This Blue Sea Systems AC analog voltmeter is a panel-mounted meter for monitoring AC voltage on a boat, with two available ranges: 0-150V AC and 0-250V AC. It uses a 2.75 in face and a dial marked in 5V increments, so the reading is easy to check at the electrical panel without scrolling through a digital display.
The meter connects with a simple 2-wire connection to AC hot and neutral, and the meter sensing and operating power come from that same connection. Backlighting helps the scale stay readable at night or in a dim cabin, helm, or electrical locker.
This is a practical fit for AC distribution panels where the crew wants a quick visual check of shore power, generator output, or inverter-fed AC voltage before and during use.
Key features
- Analog AC voltmeter range options for 0-150V AC or 0-250V AC systems.
- 2.75 in face size for standard panel layouts where a full-size analog meter is preferred.
- Dial marked in 5V increments to make voltage changes easier to see at a glance.
- Simple 2-wire connection to AC hot and neutral for the meter circuit.
- Meter senses voltage and powers itself from the same AC connection.
- Backlit face for better visibility in low-light panel locations.
- Backlight wiring supports 12V or 24V DC panel lighting circuits.
Variants
This AC analog voltmeter is offered in two voltage ranges for different AC panel applications.
The voltage scale is the main difference between the variants. Both versions use the same 2.75 in face size, 5V dial increments, 2-wire AC hot and neutral connection, self-powered meter operation from the measured AC circuit, and backlit meter face.
- 9353: Voltage 0-150V. This scale suits AC panels where the monitored voltage stays within a 150V AC range, such as common 120V shore power, generator, or inverter circuits.
- 9354: Voltage 0-250V. This wider scale covers AC systems where the panel needs to monitor voltage up to 250V AC.
Installation and setup
The meter circuit connects to the AC hot and neutral lines being measured, so it can read the circuit directly while drawing its own operating power from that connection. The backlight is wired separately to a DC lighting source: red and yellow are used for 12V backlighting, while orange and yellow are used for 24V backlighting, with yellow connected to negative.
Because this meter is installed on an AC electrical panel, wiring should match the vessel’s AC distribution layout and be handled with proper isolation, overcurrent protection, and safe working practices for marine AC systems.
Use cases on board
This meter is useful at the main AC panel, a shore power panel, a generator panel, or an inverter output panel where a fast visual voltage check matters. It gives the operator a steady reference before energizing AC loads and makes it easier to spot low or high voltage conditions while connected at the dock or running onboard AC power.
