Overview
The Attwood Marine 14233-7 is a single battery switch for 12 to 50 VDC systems that gives you a clear on and off disconnect for one battery bank. It is rated for 200 amps continuous and 300 amps intermittent load, so it fits common 12V and 24V DC setups where you want a master shutoff between the battery and the boat's main feed.
The removable control knob adds a practical layer of security when the boat is unattended, and the compact 2.17 inch body is easier to place in tighter battery compartments, consoles, or switch panels. This is a straightforward choice for boats with a simple electrical layout and one main battery circuit to isolate for storage, service, or emergency shutoff.
Key features
- Single-battery switch for 12 to 50 VDC electrical systems
- 200A continuous and 300A intermittent rating for main battery isolation
- Removable control knob for added security when leaving the boat unattended
- Flush-mount or surface-mount installation options
- Removable walls and rear-access mounting option to help with cable routing
- Ergonomic knob grip for easier operation with wet or gloved hands
Installation and setup
Installation uses four 9/64 inch mounting holes, and flush mounting also needs a 2.25 inch hole for the actuator knob. Mounting hardware is four #6 stainless screws and nuts. If the cables need to enter from the back, the switch can be mounted without the backplate.
It makes sense to place the switch where you can reach it quickly during shutdown, maintenance, or layup, while still leaving enough room for cable bends and terminal protection. Ground wires do not connect to the switch, so it is best used as a positive-side disconnect in a simple single-bank circuit.
Compatibility and fit
This switch suits boats with one starting battery or one house battery where a manual master disconnect is part of the electrical setup. It works well in straightforward systems on skiffs, runabouts, small fishing boats, and similar layouts that do not need battery-bank selection.
The compact housing and removable side walls are especially useful when panel depth is limited. For owners replacing an older single-bank battery shutoff, the combination of compact size, flush or surface mounting, and a removable knob helps keep the installation clean and easy to use.
