Overview
The Vimar Idea 17081 is a 1-module mounting frame with claw fixing and a grooved front, sized for round 60 mm flush mounting boxes and matching surface boxes.
It is a mechanical support that holds one modular device and keeps it aligned behind the cover plate. The device mounts from the rear, and the frame can be oriented horizontally or vertically, which helps when you are laying out a small switch point on a bulkhead, inside a console, or on a cabin panel.
Key features
- 1-module mounting frame for the Vimar Idea modular system
- Fits round 60 mm installation boxes for flush mounting
- Claw fixing for a secure hold without screws
- Rear-side device mounting for clean alignment behind the cover plate
- Supports horizontal or vertical mounting orientation
- Thermoplastic construction for lightweight, non-corroding support hardware
Variants
This mounting frame is offered in multiple color configurations.
The color is what changes between versions.
- VM17081.B: Color Ivory. A light tone that blends well with white or light interior panels and headliners.
- VM17081: Color Gray. A neutral shade that matches gray switch plates and many modern helm or cabin finishes.
What’s included
- 1 mounting frame
Installation and setup
Install the back box first, then seat the frame into the 60 mm opening and engage the claws so it grips the box firmly. Fit the modular device from the rear side of the frame, then complete the assembly with the matching cover plate. If you are working in a tight console or liner, confirm there is enough clearance behind the panel for the device body and wiring bends before final tightening.
Compatibility and fit
This frame is intended for Vimar Idea modular wiring devices in a 1-module format. It is meant for flush-mounted installations in a round 60 mm box and is not used for DIN rail mounting, floor boxes, or wall duct systems. For boat refits, it is a practical choice when you are standardizing switch points across cabins and service areas while keeping the cutout size consistent.
Use on board
On a vessel, this type of frame is typically used in protected interior locations such as cabins, nav stations, galleys, or inside a helm console where modular switches or outlets are mounted behind a cover plate. If the mounting position is exposed to washdowns or direct spray, place the switching point in an enclosure or move it to a drier surface so the installed device and wiring remain protected.
