Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 1698 is a dual GFCI receptacle for 125V AC circuits on board, with a 20A rating and a Class A trip level of 5 mA plus or minus 1 mA.
It gives continuous ground fault protection and runs an automatic self-test, so the outlet can verify its protection function without relying on a manual check alone. A built-in status light lets you see the operating condition at a glance when you are checking AC outlets before departure or tracing an issue in the boat's shore power side.
Stainless steel hardware and UV-stabilized plastic make it a better fit for marine use than a standard household outlet. This receptacle works well where a protected dual outlet is needed in a cabin, galley, head, or another 125V AC location that sees moisture, salt air, and regular vibration.
Key features
- Dual 125V AC GFCI receptacle with a 20A rating
- Continuous ground fault protection with automatic self-testing
- Class A trip level of 5 mA plus or minus 1 mA
- Status indicator light for quick condition checks
- Stainless steel hardware for better corrosion resistance on board
- UV-stabilized plastic housing that holds up better in sun-exposed marine spaces
- White finish that suits common marine interior and utility spaces
Installation and setup
This unit belongs in a 125V AC branch circuit and is not for 12V or 24V DC systems. Before ordering, confirm the circuit voltage, current rating, and outlet location so it matches the rest of the boat's AC installation.
It is a sensible choice for refits where a standard residential receptacle is not appropriate and where ground fault protection needs to stay active around damp areas on board. The self-test function and status light also make routine checks easier during seasonal commissioning and regular maintenance.
