Pinning shafts include an exit seal and may pass through numerous supporting bearings in applications involving oil-filled gearboxes. Additionally, pinion shafts have one or more gears that transmit the drive input to the other gears in the assembly. The majority of pinion shafts and gears are one-piece components that are from a single steel billet. This boosts the shaft's strength and, as a result, its capacity to withstand the significant torque imparted to it during operation.
