Overview
The TACO Marine S11-4650 is a 1 in. stainless steel hollow back rub rail for adding a polished protective face to a compatible rigid vinyl rub rail profile. It is made for the outside edge of the hull, where the rail helps take light contact from docks, pilings, trailers, and rafting alongside other boats.
This rub rail has a concave hollow back profile, a polished finish, and a .077 in. gauge stainless steel section. It is drilled and countersunk for #10 screws on 6 in. centers, which helps keep the fastener layout clean and consistent during installation.
Key features
- 1 in. stainless steel hollow back rub rail for use with a matching rigid vinyl rub rail profile.
- Polished finish gives the boat a clean stainless accent while adding a protective wearing surface at the hull edge.
- Pre-drilled and countersunk for #10 screws on 6 in. centers to support an even fastening pattern.
- Available in 304 stainless steel and 316L stainless steel versions, depending on the selected length.
- Made in the USA and backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
- Long stainless sections help reduce joints along the sheer line compared with shorter trim pieces.
Variants
This product is offered in two stainless steel configurations with different lengths and material grades.
The 12 ft version uses 304 stainless steel, while the 16 ft version uses 316L stainless steel. Both variants share the polished hollow back style and the drilled and countersunk #10 screw layout on 6 in. centers.
- S11-4650P12: 12 ft length, 304 stainless steel. This version suits installations where a 12 ft polished stainless section matches the rub rail run or keeps shipping and handling more manageable.
- S11-4650P16B: 16 ft length, 316 stainless steel. This longer 316L stainless version gives extra coverage per section and is well matched to exposed saltwater use where a higher stainless grade is preferred.
Installation and fit
Fit should be checked against the existing rigid vinyl rub rail profile before ordering. The hollow back shape is meant to sit over the correct molded profile, so the stainless width and profile shape matter as much as the overall length.
During installation, align the pre-drilled holes with the rub rail path and use the appropriate #10 fasteners for the boat structure and backing material. On curved sections, dry fitting first helps confirm the stainless follows the hull line without forcing the rail out of position.
Use on board
This rub rail is a good match for boat owners replacing worn stainless trim, restoring a cleaner sheer-line appearance, or adding a tougher face to a compatible rub rail system. It is especially useful around docking contact points where the rail sees routine chafe from fenders, pilings, and dock edges.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the rail with fresh water after saltwater use and clean it with a non-abrasive marine-safe stainless cleaner when needed. Regularly check the fasteners and nearby rub rail sections, especially after hard docking contact or trailering, so small movement or damage can be corrected before it spreads along the rail.
