Overview
The TACO Marine S11-4670P12 is a 1-1/4 inch stainless steel hollow back rub rail supplied in a 12 foot length for hull protection and trim work on boats. It is made from Type 304 stainless steel with a polished finish, giving the rub rail a clean metal edge while helping protect the hull-to-deck joint and other exposed perimeter areas from dock contact, fender chafe, and everyday abrasion.
The hollow back profile is meant to sit over compatible rigid vinyl rub rail sections or similar backing profiles, adding a stainless outer face where extra impact resistance and a finished look are needed. Pre-drilled and countersunk mounting holes are set for #10 screws on 6 inch centers, which helps keep installation layout consistent along long, visible runs.
Key features
- 1-1/4 inch stainless steel hollow back rub rail for boat hull and perimeter protection.
- 12 foot length suits replacement work, refits, and new rub rail sections on powerboats and similar marine applications.
- Type 304 stainless steel construction with a polished finish for a clean metal appearance in exposed exterior areas.
- Hollow back shape works as an outer stainless cover over compatible rigid vinyl rub rail profiles.
- Drilled and countersunk for #10 screws on 6 inch centers to support a neat, repeatable fastening pattern.
- Useful for reducing chafe and impact wear along areas that see dock lines, fenders, pilings, and close-quarters handling.
Installation and fit
Before ordering, match the existing rub rail profile, width, backing shape, and mounting pattern on the boat. A 1-1/4 inch hollow back stainless section needs the right support behind it so the metal sits cleanly and fastens without twisting or standing proud.
During installation, dry-fit the rail first and check the bend radius against the hull shape. Stainless rub rail can follow many boat contours, but tight corners and transitions may require careful forming, proper support, and evenly spaced fasteners to avoid distortion in the polished surface.
Use cases on board
This rub rail is a strong match for owners, yards, and builders replacing damaged stainless trim or adding a metal wear surface over compatible rub rail sections. It is especially useful around hull sides, transoms, and docking contact areas where the boat regularly meets pilings, floating docks, raft-ups, or fenders.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the stainless surface with fresh water after saltwater use and clean it with products suitable for polished stainless steel. Regular inspection of the fasteners and surrounding rub rail helps catch loose hardware, trapped debris, or early staining before it affects the finish or fit.
