Overview
The Perko 9621 is a single battery disconnect switch for isolating one battery from a boat's electrical system when the vessel is not in use. It can also serve as an emergency main disconnect during an electrical problem, giving the operator a clear way to shut off battery power at the source.
This switch is rated for 6-32 VDC marine electrical systems used with alternators and generators. Electrical ratings are 140 amps continuous, 200 amps for 5 minutes intermittent, and 250 amps for 30 seconds starting, with 3/8" terminal studs for battery cable connections.
The oval switch face measures 3" x 2-1/2", and the removable black actuator key adds a simple layer of control when the boat is stored, docked, or left unattended.
Key features
- Single battery disconnect function helps isolate battery power during storage, service work, or an onboard electrical issue.
- Suitable for 6-32 VDC marine electrical systems used with alternators and generators.
- Rated at 140 amps continuous, 200 amps for 5 minutes intermittent, and 250 amps for 30 seconds starting.
- Ignition protected for use in appropriate marine electrical installations.
- Red polycarbonate polymer body, black polymer actuator key, and nickel-plated terminals support use in the marine environment.
- Oval switch face fits a round mounting hole, which helps simplify panel layout on consoles, lockers, bulkheads, and interior gunwale areas.
- Removable actuator key gives the operator a straightforward way to limit casual operation when the boat is not in use.
Variants
This Perko single battery disconnect switch is offered in more than one mounting configuration so it can fit different helm, locker, console, or bulkhead layouts.
The electrical function and core switch design remain part of the same 9621 family. The main difference between these variants is the supplied mounting style and related hardware.
- 9621DP: Switch with mounting rings and legs. This configuration supports panel or bulkhead-style installation where the switch needs mounting hardware for the selected surface.
- 9621DPC: Switch only with cup. This configuration uses the cup mount arrangement, with a cover that hides and protects the switch face when installed.
Installation and fit
For panel mounting, the listed installation hole size is 2-1/8". For cup mounting, the listed installation hole size is 3", with a cup diameter of 3-1/2". The face dimensions are 3" x 2-1/2", so the mounting area should be checked before cutting or replacing an existing switch.
The bulkhead mount arrangement allows direct cable access, which can be useful in lockers, storage bulkheads, under-seat locations, and other areas where cable routing matters as much as switch access.
Use on board
This switch is a practical match for tenders, skiffs, flats boats, inflatables, and small boats with a single battery system. It works well in locations where the operator needs a visible battery shutoff near the console, inside a locker, on a storage bulkhead, or along an interior gunwale wall.
Before installation, confirm cable size, overcurrent protection, mounting clearance, and access to the actuator key against the vessel's electrical layout and applicable marine wiring practices.
