Overview
The Blue Sea Systems m-Series Mini Dual Circuit Battery Switch is a 2-position ON-OFF battery switch for controlling two isolated battery banks or circuits from one compact switch. It is rated for 32V DC systems, with a 300A continuous rating, a 450A intermittent rating for 5 minutes, and a 675A starting rating for 30 seconds per circuit.
This switch suits boats that need two circuits opened or closed at the same time, such as installations where positive and negative conductors must be switched together or where two isolated DC circuits are controlled from one location. It does not include a battery combine function, so it keeps the switching layout simple and predictable.
The m-Series Mini format helps in tight helm, console, battery compartment, and engine-room layouts. Tinned copper 3/8"-16 terminal studs, 4/0 AWG cable rating, #10 mounting screw holes, ignition protection, and an IP66 rating make it appropriate for marine electrical spaces exposed to vibration, humidity, and washdown conditions.
Key features
- Dual Circuit switch type simultaneously controls two isolated battery banks or circuits.
- 2 switch positions keep operation simple with ON and OFF control.
- 32V DC maximum voltage supports common 12V and 24V marine DC systems within the rated limit.
- 300A continuous rating with 450A intermittent capacity for 5 minutes and 675A starting capacity for 30 seconds per circuit.
- 3/8"-16 terminal studs accept 3/8" and M10 ring terminals for heavy battery cable connections.
- Rated for 4/0 AWG cable, with 1.12 in clearance for large cable runs.
- Tinned copper stud material helps maintain conductivity in marine electrical installations.
- Ignition protected and listed with ISO 8846, SAE J1171, UL 1107, UL 1500, CE, and IP66 regulatory ratings.
- Mounting holes accept #10 screws for secure installation in panels, battery compartments, or equipment spaces.
- Battery combine and alternator field disconnect functions are not included, which keeps the switch focused on dual-circuit ON-OFF control.
Variants
This product is offered in two color configurations for matching the switch location, panel layout, or existing battery management hardware on board.
The core switch function and electrical ratings remain consistent across the red and black versions. The visible color is the practical difference between the two variants.
- 6010, color red. The red version stands out clearly in battery compartments and helm-side electrical panels where quick visual identification is useful.
- 6010200, color black. The black version has a more understated look for darker panels, consoles, and equipment boards.
Installation and fit
Use the switch in a location where the operator can reach it easily and where battery cables can be routed without sharp bends or strain on the studs. The 4/0 AWG cable rating and 1.12 in cable clearance are important to confirm before replacing an older switch or planning a new battery layout.
Terminal stud torque is 120 in-lb, or 13.56 Nm. Matching the terminal size, cable gauge, and torque specification helps keep the connection secure in a high-current DC system, especially on boats that see engine vibration or rough-water movement.
Electrical use on board
This Dual Circuit switch is a good match for installations that need two circuits to move together rather than a selector or combine-style battery switch. It can be used where separate circuits must remain isolated while still being controlled with one switch action.
Because the switch has no battery combine function, it should not be treated as an emergency parallel switch. For systems that require charging automation, emergency combining, or multi-bank management, the rest of the battery system layout should be reviewed before installation.
Marine environment
The IP66 rating supports use in protected marine areas that may see spray or washdown, while ignition protection supports installation aboard gasoline-powered boats when the overall installation follows applicable marine electrical practices.
For long service life, mount the switch where standing water cannot collect on the rear terminals, keep cable lugs clean and tight, and inspect the connections during routine battery and engine-room checks.
