The contact Set is designed for Johnson/Evinrude marine outboard engines. The purpose is to interrupt and disturb the current flowing in the primary winding of the ignition coil. When the electric current collapses, it induces a high voltage in the secondary winding of the ignition coil. This contact set helps create enough energy to ignite the fuel. It is also known as a contact breaker and includes several tungsten breaking points. It is mounted on a plate that rotates relative to the camshaft driving it.
