Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Traditional Metal AC/DC Main Distribution Panel is a combined marine power distribution panel for boats that need AC shore power control and 12V DC branch circuit management in one main panel. It is offered in 120V AC and 230V AC versions, with both variants using 12V DC for the DC side.
This panel layout combines an AC main with 8 AC positions and a DC main with 29 DC positions, giving larger cruising boats, sportfishing boats, and refit projects a central place to manage house loads, electronics, lighting, pumps, chargers, and other onboard circuits. The AC and DC buses are installed and fully pre-wired, with label backlighting and ON-indicating LEDs already fitted in the circuit positions.
The panel measures 11.50 in high by 19.50 in wide by 3.00 in deep, so it is best suited to helm, nav station, cabin, or electrical locker installations where there is enough flat panel space and rear access for service. The metal panel uses 0.125 in 5052-H32 aluminum alloy with a graphite textured polyurethane finish.
Key features
- Combined AC and DC distribution in one traditional metal panel for main electrical control on larger 12V boats.
- Available for either 120V AC or 230V AC shore power systems, while both versions support 12V DC distribution.
- 8 AC positions and 29 DC positions give room for common onboard branch circuits without splitting control across several small panels.
- AC and DC buses are installed and fully pre-wired, which helps reduce layout work during a new installation or panel replacement.
- Label backlighting helps circuit names remain readable at night at the helm, nav station, or cabin electrical panel.
- ON-indicating LEDs are fitted in all circuit positions so active circuits can be checked quickly.
- 100 ampere C-Series toggle circuit breaker handles main circuit protection and switching for the DC branch.
- Integrated AC and DC analog meters help monitor voltage and current directly at the distribution panel.
- 0.125 in 5052-H32 aluminum alloy panel with graphite textured polyurethane finish fits a traditional marine electrical layout.
Variants
This panel is offered in two voltage configurations for different AC systems. Both variants share the same 8 AC position and 29 DC position layout, the same 12V DC side, and the same 11.50 in by 19.50 in by 3.00 in panel size.
The main difference is the nominal AC voltage and the AC-side components matched to that voltage range.
- 8095: Nominal AC voltage 120V AC. This version fits boats wired around a 120V AC shore power system and includes AC metering scaled for that voltage range.
- 8195: Nominal AC voltage 230V AC. This European version fits boats wired around a 230V AC shore power system and includes AC metering scaled for that voltage range.
Installation and fit
This panel should be mounted where the front and back of the panel are protected from water. It should not be installed in gasoline engine rooms, battery compartments, propane locker areas, or other locations where flammable vapors may collect, because the circuit breakers used in this type of marine electrical panel are not ignition protected.
For shore power use, the panel location matters as much as the cutout size. When the panel serves as the main shore power disconnect, the installation should keep the required overcurrent protection close to the shore power inlet or use additional protection where needed. A qualified marine electrician should confirm wire sizing, breaker protection, grounding, and AC/DC separation for the vessel.
Use cases on board
This panel is a strong match for refits, cruising boat upgrades, and builds where the owner wants a single traditional panel to manage both AC loads and a large number of DC branch circuits. It is especially useful on boats with multiple cabin loads, pumps, lighting zones, electronics, and charging equipment that need clear switching and circuit status at a central location.
