This system controls the timing of intake valve open/close based on engine load. In the low to mid RPM range, it improves air intake efficiency and torque. The air intake is precisely controlled by an electronically controlled single throttle, and a lengthy intake manifold efficiently directs this air to the combustion chambers for increased torque and power. Four-stroke engines run on gasoline with no oil added, and the piston moves up and down twice during each combustion cycle, hence the name "4-stroke." However, they give consistent power delivery, improved fuel efficiency, and cleaner emissions. Because 4-stroke engines have superior fuel economy and emit less smoke, they have become the standard.
