(117-63D-04) is a transformer that raises the low voltage from the battery to the point where it can create a spark to bridge the gap in a spark plug, igniting the gasoline and air in an engine's cylinder. As a result, there is ignition. The spark plug would not ignite the fuel/air combination in the combustion chamber if it didn't receive adequate voltage from the ignition pack. It is because the cylinder is highly pressurized the voltage must be exceedingly high for the spark to work. Intermittent misfire may happen by a faulty coil that delivers a voltage that only fires the plug under specific conditions.
