Sea Star Solutions Fuel Pump Diaphragm - Sierra Marine Engine Parts (18-7833)

Diaphragm pumps work with a composite membrane that flexes up and down over a fuel bowl. The bowl contains an input and an output, each with a check valve to reassure one-way fluid flow. As the diaphragm rises, it creates a vacuum that draws fuel from the fuel tank into the fuel bowl. A fuel pump with a faulty diaphragm may be ripped or have developed wear holes. The fuel can escape through the diaphragm and exit the fuel pump housing through these tears or perforations. A defective fuel pump diaphragm will cause the fuel pump to provide less fuel pressure than is required for proper engine performance.
