Overview

The Jabsco 31610-0092 is a 12V shower drain and general purpose diaphragm pump that moves up to 3.5 GPM (13.2 LPM). It is self-priming to 10 ft. (3 m), uses a four-piston diaphragm head, and fits 3/4 in. (19 mm) hose, which makes it a straightforward match for shower drain and grey water discharge lines on board.

This version is built for open-flow transfer work rather than pressurized freshwater service. It does not use a pressure switch, so it is normally wired to a manual switch and installed in a dry location above or below the water source. The housing stays compact at about 7.73 x 4.19 x 3.5 in. (196 x 106 x 90 mm), which helps when space is limited behind a liner, under a sole, or inside a head compartment.

Installation and setup

Mount the pump on a solid surface and leave the rubber grommets free to absorb vibration. For vertical installation, keep the motor on top. On a typical shower drain layout, the inlet hose runs from the shower drain to an inline strainer and then into the pump, while the outlet runs to a discharge thru-hull or grey water holding tank.

This model belongs on a dedicated 12V circuit with a 10A fuse or breaker. For total wire runs up to 20 ft. (6 m), 14 AWG cable is specified, and longer runs need heavier cable to keep voltage drop in check. For extended run time, it should operate at full open flow.

Compatibility and fit

This pump is a good match for boats that need a 12V drain pump for a shower tray, shower sump line, or grey water transfer line built around 3/4 in. hose. It is not the right fit for a pressurized faucet circuit, because this 31610-series version is used as a manually switched transfer pump rather than an automatic demand pump.

It suits installations where service access matters, especially when the strainer needs to be cleaned regularly and the discharge line needs to stay clear. That makes it a sensible choice for cruising boats, sportfishers, and small commercial craft that need a compact pump for routine shower and grey water duties.
