The Water Pump Repair Kit is fit for MercuryMariner, Mercury Quicksilver, and Yamaha Outboard with 4hp and 5hp, 1984-1996. The water pump is a necessary component of the cooling system by supplying all of the cooling water to the engine, keeping it from overheating. The critical part of the boat is the outboard water pump. Its function is to distribute coolant from the radiators to the engine's block to avoid overheating. It works by pushing water up and circulating through the engine to keep it cool. The failed water pump will make the engines overheat and can be damaged beyond repair.
