It features an aluminum 1/4 inch NPT for flexible internal spring and 3/8 inch NPT nylon tubing. It measures a length of 22 inches. The pick-up tube is kept from being pinched by an internal support spring.

Fuel will easily pass through the mesh when submerged in the pick-up. The mesh will contain enough fuel to cover all the tiny holes when petrol sloshes away from the pick-up. That fuel-filled mesh behaves like a solid. The pump will suck on the pick-up at this point, causing the mesh to suck close, preventing the pump from sucking air. The valve will open and transmit fuel when fuel covers the pick-up once again.
