Overview
The Raymarine E70372 is a 12.1-inch Axiom Pro 12 RVX multifunction chartplotter and fishfinder with RealVision 3D sonar and built-in 1 kW CHIRP sonar. It gives a helm station one central display for chart navigation, sonar, radar, cameras, autopilot control, AIS, audio integration, and other connected boat systems.
The 12.1-inch IPS touchscreen has a 1280 x 800 resolution and optical bonding for visibility at the console, including use with polarized sunglasses. HybridTouch control lets the operator use the touchscreen, keypad, and rotary control, which is helpful when spray, gloves, or rough water make touch-only operation less practical.
This RVX model suits fishing boats, cruising boats, and offshore helms that need both navigation and serious sonar capability in one display. It supports 12 V dc and 24 V dc systems, has an 8 V dc to 32 V dc operating range, and carries IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings for exposed marine installations.
Key features
- 12.1-inch Axiom Pro 12 RVX display with RealVision 3D sonar and built-in 1 kW CHIRP sonar for fishfinding, bottom detail, and structure viewing.
- 1280 x 800 IPS display with optical bonding for a helm screen that stays readable in changing light and through polarized sunglasses.
- HybridTouch operation combines multitouch control with physical buttons and a rotary knob for better control in wet or moving conditions.
- Runs on 12 V dc or 24 V dc boat electrical systems, with an 8 V dc to 32 V dc operating range and a 15 A fuse rating.
- IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings support installation at open helms and other locations exposed to spray and washdown.
- Two RayNet Ethernet ports support expansion with compatible Raymarine displays, radar, network accessories, and IP cameras.
- NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 connectivity help integrate vessel data such as heading, depth, AIS, autopilot, and engine or instrument information when connected to compatible systems.
- Built-in GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and Beidou with a 10 Hz refresh rate for responsive position data.
- Two front-mounted microSDXC card slots support chart cards, data storage, and software updates without reaching behind the dash.
Installation and setup
The unit supports front mounting and trunnion mounting, giving installers flexibility for flush dash panels, electronics boxes, and bracket-mounted helm layouts. Surface-mounted dimensions are 14.1 inches wide by 8.77 inches high, and the depth including cables is 9.18 inches, so the console needs enough rear clearance for cable bends and service access.
At 4.5 lb, the display needs a solid mounting surface that can handle vibration and normal boat movement. For open boats, center consoles, and flybridges, the waterproof rating and supplied suncover make it practical for exposed helm use when installed with proper cable routing and strain relief.
Electrical and system integration
This display is a strong fit for a Raymarine networked helm because it can tie into RayNet Ethernet, NMEA 2000 through a DeviceNet connector, and NMEA 0183 through the power cable. It can be expanded with compatible CHIRP radar, Evolution autopilot systems, FLIR thermal cameras, analog video input, and up to 10 IP cameras on a suitable network.
The rear USB Micro-B connection supports charging, external storage, or a compatible Raymarine RCR-SD/USB accessory. Wireless features include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which are useful for software updates, app connections, and supported wireless functions on board.
Sonar and navigation use
The RVX sonar package gives anglers access to RealVision 3D, DownVision, SideVision, CHIRP conical sonar, and 1 kW CHIRP sonar capability when matched with compatible transducers. The 1 kW sonar connection is useful for deeper water work, while RealVision 3D helps interpret structure, contours, and fish around the boat.
For coastal cruising, fishing, and longer offshore runs, the display works as the main navigation screen while also handling sonar and connected helm data. The physical controls are especially useful for captains who want steady control while running in chop, docking, or working a fishing area.
