Overview
The Raymarine i40 Bidata is a compact marine instrument display that combines depth and speed information in one panel for smaller powerboats, RIBs, and sailboats. It can also show log and sea temperature data when connected to the correct transducers, with two data sets visible at the same time.
The display measures 128 mm wide, 72 mm high, and 35 mm deep, so it fits well at a helm, cockpit bulkhead, or secondary station where panel space is limited. It runs on a 12 V dc system with a 10 V dc to 16 V dc operating range, draws 35 mA typically, and has an IPx6 waterproof rating for exposed marine locations.
SeaTalk connectivity lets the unit share power and data with compatible Raymarine instrument networks, and it can work as a master display with its own transducers or as a repeater for depth and speed data already available on the network.
Key features
- Shows depth, speed, log, and sea temperature data in one compact instrument display.
- Two data fields can be shown at once, with selectable small or large digits for easier reading at the helm.
- SeaTalk interface supports power and data connectivity with compatible Raymarine equipment.
- Built-in connections are provided for depth and speed or temperature transducers.
- Red backlighting helps the screen stay readable during night running or low-light cockpit use.
- IPx6 waterproof rating supports installation in exposed helm and cockpit locations subject to spray and washdown.
- 12 V dc operation with a 10 V dc to 16 V dc voltage range suits standard small-vessel electrical systems.
- Surface mounting is supported, with an optional trunnion mount kit available for alternate helm placement.
Variants
The i40 Bidata is offered in two configurations, one for installations that already have suitable transducers or network data available, and one packaged with through-hull transducers for a new depth and speed setup.
The display, SeaTalk connection, core instrument functions, dimensions, voltage range, and IPx6 waterproof rating are consistent across the i40 Bidata range.
- E70066: Display Only. This configuration is for boats where the display will connect to existing compatible transducers or repeat depth and speed information from a SeaTalk network.
- E70145: Through Hull Pack. This configuration includes P371 and P7 through-hull transducers, giving installers the display and the through-hull sensing hardware needed for depth, speed, and temperature data.
Installation and setup
The i40 Bidata can be surface mounted at a primary helm, cockpit station, or smaller navigation area where a full multifunction display is not necessary for basic instrument data. Its shallow 35 mm depth helps when mounting on compact dash panels or bulkheads with limited clearance behind the surface.
For a clean installation, confirm that the vessel has a 12 V dc supply within the unit voltage range and plan cable routing for SeaTalk, depth transducer, and speed transducer connections before cutting the panel. Installations using the through-hull pack should be matched to an appropriate hull location with clean water flow and access for service.
Compatibility and use on board
This display suits owners who want depth and speed data visible without dedicating a larger chartplotter screen to basic instrument readouts. It is a practical fit for coastal cruising, dayboats, RIBs, and sailboats where a simple instrument display near the helm makes shallow-water handling, anchoring, and speed checks easier.
When used with compatible Raymarine SeaTalk equipment, the unit can share data with other instruments and navigation hardware. SeaTalkNG communication is possible with the appropriate SeaTalk to SeaTalkNG converter kit, sold separately.
