Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Traditional Metal AC Main Breaker Panel is a non-metered 120V AC distribution panel range for boats that need a main AC disconnect with clearly organized branch circuit positions. It uses the Traditional Metal panel format with white toggle breakers, backlit circuit label positions, green ON indicator LEDs, and a red reverse-polarity indicator LED for quick visual checks at the panel.
This range covers compact and larger AC layouts, from 1 to 22 positions, with panel face sizes from 5.25in x 3.75in up to 14.75in x 7.50in. The hot, neutral, and safety ground buses are installed and pre-wired, which helps keep the AC side of a refit or panel replacement cleaner and easier to plan.
These panels are a practical fit for 120V AC onboard systems where metering is not required at the panel itself, or where voltage and current monitoring are handled elsewhere in the vessel. They are not for 12V or 24V DC distribution.
Key features
- 120V AC non-metered panel range for onboard AC main and branch circuit distribution.
- 30A double-pole white toggle AC main breaker format across the range.
- Hot, neutral, and safety ground buses are installed and pre-wired for a cleaner installation path.
- Red reverse-polarity indicator LED gives a visible warning at the panel when incoming AC polarity is incorrect.
- Green ON indicator LEDs are installed in circuit positions for quick status checks.
- Backlit circuit label positions are included on standard panels, with no separate backlight kit required.
- Multiple panel sizes and position counts let the panel match both available dash space and the number of AC circuits on board.
Variants
This product is offered in several Traditional Metal AC Main configurations for different panel spaces and AC circuit counts.
The confirmed differences between variants are the number of positions and the panel face size. The range keeps the same 120V AC, non-metered AC main panel concept with white toggle breaker styling, pre-wired AC buses, backlit label positions, ON indicator LEDs, and reverse-polarity indication.
- 8027: 6 positions, 5.25in wide x 7.50in high. This vertical layout works well where the mounting area is narrow but has enough height for a medium AC circuit count.
- 8464: 14 positions, 10.50in wide x 7.50in high. This wider layout gives more branch circuit capacity while keeping the same 7.50in panel height.
- 8465: 22 positions, 14.75in wide x 7.50in high. This is the largest layout in this group and fits more complete AC distribution arrangements on larger refits.
- 8029: 1 position, 5.25in wide x 3.75in high. This compact layout is useful where only a small AC main panel footprint is available.
- 8099: 4 positions, 10.50in wide x 3.75in high. This low-height layout spreads the positions across a wider face, which can help when vertical dash or bulkhead space is limited.
Installation and setup
Match the panel to the vessel’s 120V AC wiring plan before cutting or replacing an existing panel. The position count should cover the required AC circuits with room for the way the boat is actually used, whether that includes cabin outlets, battery charging, galley equipment, water heating, air conditioning, or other onboard AC loads.
The pre-wired buses reduce some of the layout work, but final AC wiring still needs correct conductor sizing, breaker selection, strain relief, labeling, and safe routing behind the panel. AC panel work should be done with the system de-energized and checked by a qualified marine electrician when there is any uncertainty.
Compatibility and fit
This panel range is for 120V AC marine electrical systems. It should not be used as a DC breaker panel, and it should be matched to the vessel’s AC source arrangement, existing protection scheme, and available mounting space.
Because the panels are non-metered, they keep the front face simpler and are a good match when a separate meter, monitoring system, or existing AC source equipment already handles voltage or current display. Before ordering, compare the variant face dimensions with the available cutout area, surrounding trim, wire clearance behind the panel, and the space needed to operate the white toggle breakers comfortably.
