Vimar Idea/8000 4-Module IP55 Surface Mount Enclosure, Grey

Overview

The Vimar VM13545 is an IP55 surface-mount enclosure that gives you a protected housing for up to four Vimar Idea modules, or four 8000 special modules, in a grey box (RAL 7035).

It is a practical fit on boats when you want Vimar modular switching in a spot where surface mounting makes more sense than cutting a recess, such as a cockpit bulkhead, a pilothouse side panel, or an interior area that sees spray and routine washdowns. The enclosure is the mounting and protection; the electrical function and ratings come from the devices installed inside.

Four adaptors (08491) are supplied for fitting 8000 standard modules, which helps when you are matching existing Vimar hardware on board.

Compatibility and fit

This enclosure is sized for a 4-module layout. Confirm that the switches, outlets, indicators, or other inserts you plan to use are from the Vimar Idea system, or that they are Vimar 8000 special modules intended for this format. If you are using 8000 standard modules, plan on using the supplied adaptors.

Before ordering, check the available wall space for a surface-mount box and allow room for wire bends behind the devices. On boats, it also helps to plan how wiring will enter the enclosure so the entry point stays protected.

Installation and setup

Mount the enclosure on a flat surface so the cover can close evenly. Use fasteners appropriate for the substrate and marine environment, and seal any penetrations through the bulkhead if the mounting location is exposed.

To keep the IP55 protection meaningful on board, pay attention to cable entry and strain relief. Route conductors with a drip loop where possible and avoid mounting locations where standing water can sit against the enclosure.

Use on board

A 4-module surface enclosure works well for grouping related controls in one place, such as lighting, pumps, and deck gear. It is also a clean way to add a small control point on a hardtop, inside a locker, or near a companionway without cutting a large opening into the panel.

Maintenance and care

Rinse salt off with fresh water and wipe the exterior clean. Periodically check that the cover closes fully and that cable entries remain tight so spray and washdowns do not work their way into the wiring space.
