Recmar Ignition Coil Assy (Rec6B4-85570-01)

The IGNITION COIL ASSY (REC6B4-85570-01) Recmar converts the battery's electricity to the thousands of volts required to ignite the gasoline with an electric spark in the spark plugs. To limit the current going into the coil from the boat's 12-volt supply, some coils contain an internal resistor, while others use a resistor wire or an external resistor. Spark plug wires or high tension leads are the cables that connect the ignition coil to the distributor and the high voltage wires that connect the distributor to each of the spark plugs. Every ignition coil system required mechanical contact breaker points and a capacitor (condenser).
