Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 8412 is a 120V AC main distribution panel with one 30A double-pole main breaker, six branch circuit positions, and a 50A maximum panel amperage.
It comes with four 15A single-pole branch breakers already installed, which leaves two branch positions open for future loads. Reverse polarity indication, backlit circuit labels, and ON LEDs at every circuit position make it easier to confirm shore power status and see which circuits are energized at a glance.
Hot, neutral, and safety ground buses are already installed and pre-wired, so the panel suits refits where a clean 120V AC layout is needed without building the whole bus structure from scratch. The face measures 10.5 x 4.5 inches, with a panel depth of 2.5 inches behind the mounting surface.
Key features
- 120V AC panel with a 30A double-pole main breaker already fitted
- Four 15A single-pole branch breakers installed, with two open branch positions for later expansion
- 50A maximum panel amperage for the panel assembly
- Red reverse polarity LED for quick fault indication when shore power wiring is not correct
- Hot, neutral, and safety ground buses installed and fully pre-wired
- Backlit label positions and ON indication LEDs at every circuit position
Installation and fit
This panel is intended for 120V AC shore power systems and works best in a protected helm, cabin, or electrical locker location where the panel will stay dry. It is not a waterproof panel, and it is not meant for explosive spaces such as gasoline engine rooms or battery compartments.
When it serves as the vessel's main shore power disconnect, the mounting location should be within 10 feet of the shore power inlet or the electrical attachment point of a permanently installed shore power lead. That makes it a practical choice for compact refits where panel space is limited but there still needs to be room for a main breaker, active branch circuits, and a little expansion capacity.
Use on board
This panel is a good fit for boats that need a straightforward 120V AC distribution point for cabin receptacles, a battery charger, galley outlets, water heater circuits, or similar branch loads. It also suits owners replacing an older horizontal AC panel who want the wiring buses already in place and do not want to give up spare circuit positions for later upgrades.
