The oil pressure is one of the most critical variables in keeping an engine operating smoothly and lasting a long time. Is it placed in the engine's oil circuit. It monitors the oil pressure and controls an oil pressure indicator or switches off or on a warning light. The oil pressure switch is usually closed. Oil pressure warning light lights when the ignition is turning on. When the engine begins, the oil pressure switch's switch contact opens, and the ground contact for the warning light is stopped.
