The Shear Pin function is to connect the auger to the auger shaft. This connection allows the spinning blade to rotate. It is a weak bolt designed to snap under a low level of pressure to prevent other parts from breaking. It is easy to install and can replace quickly. Make sure to stop the engine unit before replace the shear pin. Stop the engine, remove the key and disconnect the spark plug wire from the engine. Wait for all parts to stop moving, and check the augers for easier access to the shear pin.
