In rough water, the Volvo DPS (Dynamic Positioning System) outdrive is designed to help maintain position and provide smooth propulsion. For high-performance gasoline and diesel engines with DPS-B drive, the stainless steel option is available. The helical splines are only seen on the FH and IH series propellers. Volvo Penta FH6 Rear Steel Three Blade Right Hand Rotation Duoprop Helical (3885855) is designed to transfer all thrust from the propeller to the main body of the bushing. This prevents the propeller from moving forward on the bushing. Galvanic corrosion is avoided by electrically isolating the propellers from the drive.

Note: You can't utilize F series and FH series propellers on the same drive because of the FH Helical Spline. Only use the same propellers for twin installations. The stainless steel Type F or FH propeller should be used for all engines with speeds more than 38 knots.
