Rawhide mallets are used for leatherwork, jewelry, and assembling electric motors and sensitive machinery. They may have a rawhide covering a steelhead or just consist of rolled-up rawhide. The rawhide covering helps to maintain the hammerhead in good shape for a longer period of time. Rust and corrosion can cause metal hammerheads to discolor over time. To maintain the appearance, protective coats must be applied on a regular basis. This increases the amount of maintenance work and the overall expenditures. The rawhide facing, on the other hand, protects the metal head underneath from corrosive operations.
Key Features:
- When the workpiece surface must be disrupted as little as possible, the rawhide mallet is appropriate.
- Rawhide mallets are quieter than standard mallets. When you need to keep the volume of noise down while working, a hammer with rawhide facing comes in handy. The leather front also helps to prevent ear irritation from loud impact.
