A Devilfish (E01900) is a brass sleeve cutlass bearing that provides a wear surface between propeller shafts and struts or rudder shafts & rudder ports. Designed to have a rubber oil-resistant shaft and is chemical resistant. The rigid outer shell is from a naval brass super-bonded to a fluted rubber. The resilience of the rubber liner allows bearings to dampen noise and vibration. This strut tool is always required when replacing a bearing to prevent it from freezing or corroding in place.
