Overview
The Jabsco PAR-Max 4 Series is an automatic water pressure pump range for marine fresh water systems that need steady flow to multiple outlets. It uses a four-chamber diaphragm layout for smooth delivery and is offered in 12 VDC and 24 VDC versions, with pressure cut-off options of 40 psi or 25 psi depending on the model selected.
This pump range suits boats with self-contained water systems feeding taps, showers, washdown points, or similar onboard fixtures. The pump starts when a fixture is opened and stops when system pressure builds after the fixture is closed, which makes it practical for day-to-day use on cruising boats, fishing boats, and yachts with one to five outlets.
Snap-fit port fittings, soft noise-absorbing mounts, dry-running capability, and corrosion-resistant materials help the unit cope with the vibration, moisture, and service conditions commonly found in marine installations.
Key features
- Automatic pressure-controlled operation starts and stops the pump as onboard fixtures are opened and closed.
- Four-chamber diaphragm construction helps keep water flow smooth through the vessel plumbing system.
- Rated for use with one to five outlets, depending on the vessel layout and selected installation.
- Available for 12 VDC or 24 VDC electrical systems, with matching variants for common marine DC setups.
- Pressure cut-off options include 40 psi (2.8 bar) and 25 psi (1.8 bar) for different water system requirements.
- Snap-fit port fittings make plumbing connections faster during installation or pump replacement.
- Soft noise-absorbing mounts help reduce vibration transfer into bulkheads, lockers, and mounting panels.
- Dry-running capability adds protection during short periods when the water supply is interrupted.
- Meets USCG Regulation 183.410 and ISO 8846 Marine ignition protection requirements for safer use in appropriate onboard spaces.
- Meets EN 50081-1 electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
Variants
The Jabsco PAR-Max 4 Series is offered in four configurations covering the main voltage and pressure cut-off combinations used in marine water pressure systems.
The voltage and pressure cut-off vary between models. The automatic diaphragm pump layout, PAR-Max 4 Series platform, and one-to-five outlet application remain consistent across the range.
- 31620-0092: 12 VDC with 40 psi (2.8 bar) pressure cut-off. This version suits boats with a 12 VDC DC system where a higher cut-off pressure is required for the fresh water circuit.
- 31620-0094: 24 VDC with 40 psi (2.8 bar) pressure cut-off. This version matches 24 VDC installations that use the higher pressure cut-off setting.
- 31620-0292: 12 VDC with 25 psi (1.8 bar) pressure cut-off. This version fits 12 VDC systems where a lower cut-off pressure is preferred for the onboard plumbing layout.
- 31620-0294: 24 VDC with 25 psi (1.8 bar) pressure cut-off. This version fits 24 VDC systems that call for the lower pressure cut-off setting.
Installation and setup
Before installation, the selected variant should match the vessel DC supply voltage. Using the correct 12 VDC or 24 VDC model is important for pump performance, wiring, and system protection.
The pump should be mounted where it can be reached for inspection, strainer service, and plumbing checks. A firm mounting surface helps the soft mounts reduce vibration, and the surrounding space should allow the hoses and electrical connections to sit without strain.
Compatibility and fit
This range is intended for marine water pressure systems serving up to five outlets. It is most relevant for vessels with pressurized fresh water plumbing where automatic pump operation is needed at taps, showers, and other domestic water points on board.
The pressure cut-off choice should be matched to the existing plumbing system, fixtures, and any accumulator or filtration setup already installed on the vessel.
Use cases on board
The PAR-Max 4 Series is a good match for owners replacing an existing automatic water pressure pump or specifying a pump for a compact to mid-size onboard water system. It fits practical marine use where dependable fresh water delivery matters more than unnecessary complexity.
