Overview
The Simrad 000-16217-001 is a mounting bracket used to bracket-mount a Simrad NSX 3012UW 12-inch ultrawide display on top of a dash, console, or electronics pod.
This is the hardware you use when you want the unit on a bracket instead of cutting a large opening for a panel install. It also keeps the back of the display easy to reach for cable routing, service loops, and connector access in tight helm spaces.
For clearance planning, a 12-inch NSX 3012UW measures 337.0 mm (13.30 in) wide. With a gimbal bracket installed, overall height is 157.9 mm (6.22 in) and overall depth is 96.5 mm (3.80 in). Leave room at both sides for the hand knobs used during bracket mounting.
Key features
- Made for Simrad NSX 3012UW 12-inch ultrawide displays for bracket (gimbal) mounting
- Supports a top-mount helm install where the display sits proud of the dash
- Mounting method uses side knobs on the display; hand tightening is recommended to avoid stressing the chassis
- Bracket can be used as a drilling template for pilot holes on the mounting surface
- Fasteners are selected to suit the surface material (fiberglass, aluminum, wood, or composite)
Compatibility and fit
This bracket is intended for the NSX 3012UW ultrawide form factor. If your boat has the standard NSX 3012 (non ultrawide) display, this is not the correct bracket.
Ultrawide NSX displays can also be rear mounted. If your plan is a clean, low-profile install through a cutout, use the rear or panel mounting approach instead of a bracket mount.
Installation and setup
Dry-fit the bracket first and check that there is enough height for the screen angle you want, plus side clearance for knob adjustments. Use the bracket as a template to mark hole locations, then drill pilot holes.
Secure the bracket with fasteners that match your mounting surface and thickness. Mount the display to the bracket using the knobs and tighten by hand. On exposed helms, bedding the fasteners helps keep water out of the core and backing structure.
Use on board
This style of mount makes sense on center consoles, pilothouses, and boats with molded dashes where you would rather avoid a large cutout. It is also a good fit when you want to pull the display for service without disturbing a flush-mount seal.
