The battery disconnect switch is purposely to cut-off main power so that the battery does not run out or get stranded. Also known as selector or battery switches, this helps control the overall power consumption of the boat. You won't like going boating when your battery is dead. The purpose of the switch is to isolate the engine battery from the house bank connected to the boat's house loads.
