Overview
The Jabsco 37202 is a compact shower drain and bilge pump for moving water from shower sumps, shallow bilges, sink drains, and similar low-level collection points on board. It uses a diaphragm pump design with a nominal flow rate of 13 litres per minute, about 3 US gallons per minute, and it can self-prime from dry up to 2 m, or 6 ft.
This pump is useful where small amounts of water need to be lifted and discharged rather than left to slosh around in a shallow bilge. The 19 mm, or 3/4 inch, hose connections suit common marine drain plumbing, and the diaphragm design can tolerate extended dry running during normal pump-out cycles.
Key features
- Diaphragm pump for shower drains, bilge water, sink drains, and general low-volume water transfer on boats.
- Nominal 13 LPM flow rate, about 3 US GPM, for steady removal of collected water from sump and bilge areas.
- Self-priming from dry up to 2 m, or 6 ft, which helps when the pump is mounted above the collection point.
- 19 mm, or 3/4 inch, hose barb ports for straightforward connection to common marine drain hose.
- Can run dry for extended periods, helping reduce concern when the sump or bilge has emptied before the switch is turned off.
- Corrosion-resistant construction for use in damp compartments where bilge water, shower water, and salt air may be present.
Variants
The 37202 range is offered in two voltage configurations so the pump can match the vessel’s DC electrical system.
The voltage changes between variants, while the pump type, hose connection size, nominal flow rate, and dry self-priming capability remain the same across the listed configurations.
- 37202-2012: 12 Volt. This version suits boats with a 12 V DC system and uses a 10 A fuse in the positive circuit.
- 37202-2024: 24 Volt. This version suits boats with a 24 V DC system and uses a 5 A fuse in the positive circuit.
Installation and setup
Install the pump in a dry, accessible location where the hose runs can stay as direct as practical. For bilge use, fitting the inline strainer on the intake side helps protect the diaphragm and valves from debris that can collect in the bilge.
The discharge should be routed to a 19 mm, or 3/4 inch, thru-hull fitting located well above the waterline at all normal angles of heel. The pump should be wired on its own circuit with stranded copper wire and the correct fuse for the selected voltage version.
Use cases on board
This pump is a good match for owners who need a simple DC pump for a shower sump, shallow bilge, or sink drain where a standard submersible bilge pump may leave too much water behind. It is also practical for tight service areas because the pump can lift water from the collection point rather than needing to sit directly in it.
