Overview
The MotorGuide 8M4004179 is an adapter cable that connects the built-in HD+ sonar from a Tour or Tour Pro trolling motor to a Raymarine Element Series display. It carries traditional 2D sonar at 83/200 kHz and interfaces through the standard blue/gray 7-pin sonar connector.
This cable is only for Tour or Tour Pro motors that are HD+ enabled, and it is not compatible with Xi Series motors. It passes 2D 83/200 kHz only and does not carry other sonar frequencies.
Key features
- Adapter cable required to use integrated HD+ sonar from Tour or Tour Pro motors on a compatible display
- Compatible with Raymarine Element Series units
- Supports 2D 83/200 kHz sonar only
- Standard blue/gray 7-pin sonar connector interface
- Not compatible with MotorGuide Xi Series trolling motors
Compatibility and fit
Match this cable to two things: a Tour or Tour Pro trolling motor that has integrated HD+ sonar, and a Raymarine Element Series display with an available transducer port. If your sonar display uses a different connector family, it will need a different adapter cable.
Installation and setup
Route the cable along the trolling motor mount with enough slack for stow and deploy, and keep it clear of pinch points. Avoid tight bends at the head and steering area, and secure it with loose ties or a cable sleeve so the motor can turn freely without pulling on the connectors.
Make connections with the sonar display powered off, then power up and select the 2D sonar source in your Element settings. In wet bow compartments, keep connectors supported and as dry as possible, and add simple strain relief so vibration does not work the plugs loose over time.
On the water
This setup is a good match for anglers running a Tour or Tour Pro HD+ on the bow who want a traditional 2D view that follows the trolling motor direction on a Raymarine Element screen. It also helps when you do not want to mount a separate transducer on the hull or keep re-rigging a transducer cable at the bow.
