Overview
The Jabsco Flexible Impeller Profile O Size 200 is a 9-blade replacement impeller for compatible flexible impeller pumps used on boats for engine cooling, bilge, transfer, and general pumping duties.
This impeller uses a brass spline-drive insert and matches a 3-3/4 in diameter, 2-1/2 in depth, and 1 in shaft size. Those dimensions are the key checks before ordering, especially when replacing an older impeller from a pump already installed in an engine room, bilge space, or machinery compartment.
The range is offered in neoprene and nitrile material versions, so the material can be matched to the fluid being moved. Neoprene is commonly used for general water pumping, while nitrile is suited to pumping oil or water that may be heavily contaminated with oil or diesel.
Key features
- Profile O, Size 200 flexible impeller for compatible Jabsco-style spline-drive pump applications.
- 9-blade impeller layout for pumps that require this blade count and profile.
- 3-3/4 in diameter, 2-1/2 in depth, and 1 in shaft size for fit verification before installation.
- Brass spline-drive insert for use with matching splined pump shafts.
- Available in neoprene for general water pumping and nitrile for oil or contaminated-water transfer duties.
- Useful for planned impeller replacement during engine cooling system service or pump maintenance.
Variants
This Jabsco impeller is offered in two material configurations with the same Profile O, Size 200 format.
The material is the main difference between the variants. The 9-blade layout, 3-3/4 in diameter, 2-1/2 in depth, 1 in shaft size, and brass spline-drive insert are consistent across the listed configurations.
- 836-0001: Material Neoprene. This version suits general water pumping applications, including many raw-water and service pump uses where oil contamination is not the main concern.
- 836-0003: Material Nitrile. This version suits bilge and transfer duties where the pumped water may contain oil or diesel contamination.
Installation and fit
Before fitting, compare the old impeller to the replacement and confirm the outside diameter, depth, shaft size, spline drive, blade count, and Profile O shape. These checks matter because flexible impeller pumps can look similar from the outside while using different internal impeller sizes.
Install the impeller in a clean pump body and inspect the cover plate, cam, gasket surface, and shaft area while the pump is open. Any scoring, worn sealing surfaces, or missing blade pieces should be addressed before the boat goes back into regular use.
Use on board
This impeller is a practical service part for boat owners and technicians maintaining flexible impeller pumps in engine rooms, bilges, and general transfer systems. It is especially relevant for vessels where a failed impeller can quickly affect cooling water flow or pump operation.
Keeping a correctly sized spare on board is sensible for cruising and fishing boats that spend time away from dockside parts access. Match the material to the pump’s job, then use the pump model or the removed impeller dimensions to confirm final fit.
Maintenance and care
Flexible impellers should be inspected regularly, especially after dry running, long storage, overheating, or pumping dirty water. Cracked vanes, stiff rubber, missing blade tips, or a set shape that does not recover well are signs that replacement is due.
After installation, check for normal water flow and leaks at the pump cover before relying on the system underway. On engine cooling pumps, confirm discharge flow soon after startup and shut down if flow does not return promptly.
