Overview

The Raymarine E70400 is an Axiom XL 19 multifunction display for glass bridge helm installations that need a large navigation screen, broad system integration, and clear visibility in exposed marine conditions. It uses an 18.5 inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, 24-bit color, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and 1200 cd/m2 illumination, giving the helm a screen that is easy to read from wide viewing angles.

This Axiom XL display runs on Raymarine LightHouse and uses a quad-core processor for charting, radar, sonar, camera, autopilot, and vessel data workflows from one helm station. It supports 12 Vdc and 24 Vdc electrical systems, operates from 8 Vdc to 32 Vdc, and carries IPx6 and IPx7 water ingress ratings for cockpits, flybridges, and enclosed bridges where spray, washdowns, vibration, and changing light are part of normal use.

Installation and fit

The Axiom XL 19 is built for fixed helm installation rather than portable use. The display measures 461.78 mm wide, 289.44 mm high, and 174.95 mm deep including cables, with a weight of 7.6 kg. Those dimensions are important when planning a flush panel, a surface mount, or a multi-display helm where cable clearance behind the dash can be just as important as the front opening.

A built-in ambient light sensor adjusts screen brightness as conditions change, which helps when moving between early morning runs, bright midday sun, and night approaches. The buttonless glass face also suits modern helm panels where cleaning, glare management, and a tidy layout matter.

Electrical and system integration

The unit works on 12 Vdc or 24 Vdc systems and requires a 15 A fuse or thermal breaker. Power planning should account for the display itself and any connected equipment using Power over Ethernet, especially on larger helms with radar, cameras, and multiple displays sharing the network.

For networked electronics, the display includes three RayNet Ethernet ports, a DeviceNet connector for NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183 input and output support, HDMI input, HDMI output, USB touch connections, and composite BNC analog video inputs. This makes it a strong match for larger cruising boats, sportfishing boats, and refit projects where radar, sonar, cameras, autopilot, charting, and digital control need to come together at the helm.

Video, control, and onboard use

HDMI input allows the display to show a remote computer or compatible entertainment source, while USB touch control can be used for remote PC interaction when the installation is set up for it. HDMI output can send the Axiom XL screen to another monitor below deck, which is useful when navigation awareness is needed away from the main helm.

Camera support is a practical benefit on boats with limited sightlines from the helm. The display can show analog and IP camera feeds, including compatible visible-light and FLIR thermal camera systems, so the operator can keep an eye on machinery spaces, aft decks, crew movement, or approaches in reduced visibility.
