Overview

The TACO Marine 3/4" Stainless Steel Rub Strake is a polished stainless steel chafe guard for protecting areas where dock lines, fender lines, or anchor lines rub against the boat. It gives the line a smooth metal contact surface instead of letting repeated movement wear into gelcoat, rub rail, trim, or exposed edge areas.

This rub strake has a 3/4" width and is offered in 8", 12", 18", and 24" lengths, so the installed coverage can be matched to the wear point on the hull, rail, deck edge, or line lead. It is suited to yachts and larger boats that use heavier lines, and it can be used with or without an extruded rub rail where chafe protection is needed.

Variants

This product is offered in multiple lengths, all within the same 3/4" stainless steel rub strake family.

The length changes between variants, while the 3/4" width, polished stainless steel construction, chafe-protection purpose, and #8 screw installation remain consistent across the range.

• S11-1700P8: 8" length. This shorter size is useful for a focused chafe point, such as a single fender line contact area or a compact line lead.
• S11-1700P12: 12" length. This size adds more coverage while still fitting neatly on smaller wear zones along a rub rail or deck edge.
• S11-1700P18: 18" length. This length gives broader protection where a line moves through a wider angle during docking, rafting, or mooring.
• S11-1700P24: 24" length. This longer version covers extended contact areas where heavier lines may sweep or load across the same surface repeatedly.

Installation and fit

Before installation, position the rub strake directly over the contact path where the line normally bears against the boat. The surface below it should be solid, clean, and suitable for screw fastening. Because it mounts with #8 screws, the correct screw type and length should be selected for the substrate and the surrounding hardware.

On fiberglass boats, careful pilot holes and proper bedding help protect the mounting surface from water intrusion. On existing rub rail or trim areas, check the available flat contact area so the 3/4" width sits cleanly without rocking or bridging over uneven surfaces.
