Overview
The TACO Marine OC Series is a telescoping aluminum center rigger pole range for offshore trolling setups that use a 1-1/8 inch butt end diameter. It fits TACO Marine center rigger top mounts and other compatible mounts that accept 1-1/8 inch poles, giving anglers a clean way to run a center line from a hardtop, tower, T-top, or similar mounting point.
Each pole uses satin and polished anodized aluminum with stainless springs, button, and eyelets, so it is suited to the saltwater environment and repeated rigging cycles. The pole telescopes down for bridge clearance, trailering, and storage, with 8 foot and 12 foot versions available to match different boat sizes and spread preferences.
Key features
- Telescoping center rigger pole for bluewater trolling, bait presentation, and adding a center line to an offshore spread.
- 1-1/8 inch butt end diameter for use with TACO Marine center rigger mounts and other mounts that accept the same pole diameter.
- Satin and polished anodized aluminum construction helps the pole handle saltwater exposure while keeping weight manageable.
- Stainless springs, button, and eyelets support repeated extension, retraction, and rigging use on the boat.
- Telescopes down for bridge clearance, trailering, and storage when the boat is not actively fishing.
- Available in 8 foot and 12 foot lengths, with finish combinations that coordinate with common outrigger and hardtop hardware.
Variants
This center rigger pole is offered in multiple configurations, with the main differences being pole length and the finish combination used on the pole, rings, and tips.
The 8 foot versions suit boats up to 30 feet, while the 12 foot versions suit boats up to 40 feet. The 1-1/8 inch butt end diameter remains the key fit point across the range.
- OC-0422BKA8: Black/Silver finish, 8 foot length. This option gives the pole a black body with silver rings and tips, a common match for darker hardtops, black outrigger hardware, and modern console trim.
- OC-0421VEL8: Silver/Gold finish, 8 foot length. This option pairs a silver pole with gold rings and tips for boats that use gold-tone accent hardware in the trolling spread.
- OC-0422VEL8: Silver/Silver finish, 8 foot length. This option keeps the full look understated with silver rings and tips, which works well with polished aluminum towers, rails, and light-colored tops.
- OC-0432BKA116: Black/Silver finish, 12 foot length. This longer version gives more reach for boats that need a wider centerline presentation while keeping the black and silver finish combination.
- OC-0432VEL116: Silver/Silver finish, 12 foot length. This longer version keeps the silver finish theme and is a clean match for boats with polished or satin aluminum deck hardware.
Installation and fit
Fit starts with the mount. This pole range is made around a 1-1/8 inch butt end diameter, so the receiving center rigger mount or compatible outrigger mount must accept that size. It works with TACO Marine Grand Slam outrigger top mounts, Striker bases, and other compatible mounts that accept 1-1/8 inch outriggers.
Before installation, check the mount location for overhead clearance, trailer height, and the path of the rigging line. On hardtops and towers, the telescoping action helps when moving under bridges or storing the boat, but the mount still needs a secure, properly backed location that can handle trolling loads and boat motion.
Use on board
This pole is a practical match for center console and sport fishing boats that troll offshore and need a center rigger position without adding a full outrigger pair. It helps manage a center bait or lure from a high point on the boat, which can clean up the spread and keep line placement more organized while fishing.
The 8 foot versions make sense where compact storage and smaller boat layouts matter most. The 12 foot versions give more reach for larger boats and wider trolling spreads.
Maintenance and care
After saltwater use, rinse the pole with fresh water and let it dry before storage. Pay extra attention to the telescoping sections, eyelets, button, and spring areas, since salt and grit can collect around moving parts after a long day offshore.
Store the pole retracted when it is not in use, and avoid letting metal hardware scrape the anodized surface during transport. A light inspection before each trip helps confirm that the sections extend smoothly and the rigging points are ready for use.
