Overview
The Victron Energy Smart IP43 Charger (1+1) 120-240V is an AC battery charger for permanently mounted 12V or 24V boat electrical systems, with one main charge output and a secondary starter or auxiliary output. The range covers 12V chargers at 30A and 50A, and 24V chargers at 16A and 25A, with 120-240VAC nominal input for shore power, generator, or inverter-fed AC supply.
The 1+1 layout is useful on boats with a house bank and a separate engine-start battery. The main output can use the full rated current, while the starter or auxiliary output is limited to 4A, and the total current across outputs remains within the model rating. Built-in Bluetooth gives access to setup and monitoring through the VictronConnect app, while VE.Direct allows integration with a GX device and Victron remote monitoring.
Key features
- Available for 12V and 24V battery banks, with model ratings from 16A to 50A for matching common house-bank sizes.
- 1+1 output arrangement supports a main battery bank plus a separate starter or auxiliary battery without current flow between the batteries.
- Adaptive charging includes bulk, absorption, float, storage, repeated absorption, and optional recondition stages for lead-acid charging; Li-ion mode uses a dedicated 3-stage profile.
- Integrated presets cover flooded lead-acid, AGM, Gel, and LiFePO4 batteries, with custom settings available through VictronConnect.
- Built-in Bluetooth supports setup, monitoring, firmware updates, and charge-current adjustment from the VictronConnect app.
- VE.Direct interface allows connection to a GX device for Victron system monitoring and VRM remote access.
- Aluminium enclosure, fanless cooling, IP43 protection for the electronics, and an IP22 connection area suit protected marine installation spaces.
- Operates from 85-250VAC input, with full rated output up to 40°C ambient temperature.
Variants
This Smart IP43 Charger (1+1) range is offered in four configurations. Each variant belongs to the same 120-240V input family and uses the 1+1 output layout, while battery voltage and charge current change by model.
The verified differences across these variants are the battery voltage and main charge-current rating. Shared characteristics include Bluetooth setup through VictronConnect, VE.Direct communication, fanless cooling, and a secondary starter or auxiliary output.
- PSC123051095: Battery voltage 12V, charge current 30A. This version fits 12V systems where the house bank needs moderate shore-power charging while a separate starter or auxiliary battery remains topped up.
- PSC125051095: Battery voltage 12V, charge current 50A. This is the higher-current 12V version, used where the battery bank size, cable run, and protection are specified for 50A charging.
- PSC241651095: Battery voltage 24V, charge current 16A. This version serves 24V house systems that need a lower charge-current option with the same 1+1 charging layout.
- PSC242551095: Battery voltage 24V, charge current 25A. This is the higher-current 24V version, suited to 24V banks that can accept a 25A charging source.
Installation and setup
Mount the charger vertically with the terminals facing down and keep at least 100mm of open space above and below the unit for airflow. It belongs in a protected, ventilated location away from direct water exposure, high moisture, dust, batteries, and flammable liquids or gases.
DC cable size depends on the exact model, the cable run, and the installation environment. The charger uses screw terminals up to 16 mm², or AWG6, and the DC circuit should be protected with an inline fuse or circuit breaker mounted as close as practical to the battery or batteries.
Compatibility and system integration
Battery modes can be selected on the charger or through VictronConnect, so the same charger family can be set up for common lead-acid and LiFePO4 banks when the battery maker's charge requirements match the selected profile. The charge algorithm is common across the outputs, so batteries connected to the main and auxiliary outputs should be compatible with the same charging profile.
For boats with a wider Victron electrical system, VE.Direct can link the charger to a GX device, while VE.Smart Networking can share battery voltage, current, and temperature information from compatible Victron monitors. Remote on/off terminals and a programmable relay also give installers useful control points for BMS or alarm-based installations.
Use on board
This charger suits cruisers, fishing boats, and workboats that charge a house bank from shore power and maintain a separate start battery. It also makes sense on boats where app-based setup and monitoring need to sit alongside hardwired integration into a GX-based Victron system.
