Overview
The Lopolight 301-106 Series is a range of 3 nautical mile, 135 degree white stern navigation lights for vessels over 50 m (164 ft).
All configurations operate on 10 to 32 VDC, which covers both 12 V and 24 V systems, and use an IP68-rated housing for stern areas that see spray, washdowns, and vibration. Power draw is 1.7 W, with current consumption of 130 mA at 12 VDC and 72 mA at 24 VDC.
The range includes single stern lights and double stacked stern lights, with mounting and finish options to match the transom layout and the look of the boat.
Key features
- 3 nautical mile visibility with a 135 degree stern sector and white light output
- 10 to 32 VDC input for 12 V and 24 V electrical systems
- IP68 rating for wet stern installations and routine washdowns
- Intensity over 15 cd
- Operating temperature range from -25 C to 55 C
- Anodized aluminum housing (silver or black, 25 micron finish) with a PMMA lens and A4 stainless steel screws
- Vertical-mount versions use a 2.5 m cable; horizontal-mount versions use a plug connector
- Approved to COLREG72 and EN14744, with additional approvals including IEC 60945 and USCG
Variants
This series is offered in multiple configurations that change the light style, the mounting orientation, and the housing finish.
Across the range, the core specifications remain consistent: a 3 nautical mile, 135 degree white stern light that runs on 10 to 32 VDC with an IP68 rating and intensity over 15 cd. The main choices are single stern versus double stacked stern, vertical versus horizontal mounting, and silver anodized versus black anodized housing.
Installation and setup
Mount the light on the vessel centerline at the stern where the 135 degree sector has a clear line of sight. Keep it away from overhangs, davits, flags, or antennas that could cut into the required arc.
For vertical-mount models, route the 2.5 m cable into a dry interior run and support it so it cannot chafe where it passes through the transom or structure. For horizontal-mount models, plan the mating connection for the plug connector and leave service access so the light can be removed without straining the wiring.
Use a minimum feed wire gauge of 0.5 mm2 (AWG 22) and protect the wiring with proper strain relief and sealing at every deck or transom penetration.
Compatibility and fit
These are 3 nautical mile stern lights intended for vessels over 50 m (164 ft), so they are typically specified on large yachts and commercial vessels where a 3 nm stern light is part of the navigation light plan.
Physical size depends on configuration. Single stern versions have a compact body at 86.2 x 28 x 57.75 mm, while the double stacked stern versions use a round body at 92.5 mm diameter by 96.5 mm height.
Materials and sealing
The housing is anodized aluminum with a 25 micron finish, paired with a PMMA lens and A4 stainless steel fasteners for better resistance in saltwater environments. The build includes epoxy and polyurethane sealing compounds, and the IP68 rating supports installations that regularly see water exposure at the stern.
Use cases on board
This range is a good match for refits and new builds on larger vessels that need a 3 nautical mile stern light and want a compact fixture with a modest electrical draw for long night runs. The vertical and horizontal mounting options help when the stern profile dictates either a transom face mount or a deck or platform mount.
