Overview
The Garmin GPSMAP 10x2/12x2 series is a line of keyed multifunction displays for charting and networked helm data, offered with 10.1-inch or 12.1-inch screens. Control is through a keypad and rotary knob, which helps when the helm is wet or the boat is moving.
Power input is 10 to 32 VDC with a 6 A fast-acting fuse, and the housing is rated IEC 60529 IPX7 for incidental exposure to water. The 10.1-inch models use a 1024 x 600 display, while the 12.1-inch models use a 1280 x 800 display, and the case combines polycarbonate plastic with die-cast aluminum.
This family is commonly used as the center screen for navigation plus system data, with networking for sharing compatible radar, sonar, and video across the boat.
Key features
- Display size options: 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) or 12.1-inch (1280 x 800)

- IEC 60529 IPX7 water rating for incidental exposure to water (up to 1 m for up to 30 min) and operating range from -15 to 50°C
- Garmin Marine Network over Ethernet for sharing data with compatible Garmin marine equipment (each Ethernet port can act as a network switch)
- NMEA 2000 support (LEN 2; 75 mA max) plus NMEA 0183 input and output through the power/data harness
- Two SD card slots with support for up to 32 GB card size
- Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ANT wireless radios for pairing and connected features

Variants
This listing covers multiple configurations across the GPSMAP 10x2/12x2 keyed range. Options vary by display size (10-inch or 12-inch), chart package (worldwide basemap or built-in Garmin Navionics+), and sonar capability (chartplotter-only models or xsv models with SideVü, ClearVü and traditional CHIRP).
Some configurations are packaged with a transducer, while others do not include one, so the transducer choice can be matched to your hull, mounting style, and the depths you fish or cruise.
Installation and mounting
These displays are commonly flush-mounted at the helm using the included template and mounting hardware. Plan for clearance behind the dash for the connectors, cable bends, and drip loops, and keep unused connectors capped to protect the contacts.
A bail-mount bracket can also be used for bracket-style installs, and the bracket is typically sourced separately. Keep the unit at least 65 cm (25.5 in.) from a magnetic compass, and choose a location that limits vibration and gives you room to tighten the locking rings on the cables.
Compatibility and system integration
For network sharing, the Garmin Marine Network connections are intended to be made with Garmin Marine Network cables rather than standard third-party Ethernet leads. The Ethernet ports can be used to connect compatible devices and share data across the network.
NMEA 2000 is used for tying in sensors and vessel data, and NMEA 0183 support is available for legacy gear through the wiring harness. If you are adding the unit to an existing NMEA 2000 backbone, the network should be powered correctly and switched so it does not drain the batteries when the boat is off.
Use cases on board
This series fits helms where you want positive button control for route work, radar overlays, and system pages while underway. Cruisers and sailors often use it as a primary nav display, while fishing setups tend to lean toward the sonar-equipped configurations for bottom detail and structure scanning.
On boats with more than one display, the networking options help keep charts, waypoints, and compatible data sources consistent from station to station.
