Overview
The Hella Marine 358115091 is a halogen spreader light that mounts flush and throws a double-beam pattern for deck work on 12V boats. It is the Module 6213 close-range (CR) style, which concentrates light where you are handling lines, rigging, or gear instead of pushing a long spot far off the bow.
The rectangular face sits clean in a hardtop, radar arch, or transom panel, giving you strong cockpit and deck illumination without a protruding bracket. It is a practical choice for docking, loading, setting up tackle, and general night work when you want a bright halogen beam and a low-profile install.
Plan your mounting space before cutting: the overall size is approximately 7 x 3.75 x 3.5 in, and you will need room behind the panel for the housing and wiring.
Key features
- Flush mount form factor for a clean install on hardtops, arches, and other flat panels.
- Double-beam close-range (CR) output suited to cockpit, deck, and dockside tasks.
- 12 V H3 halogen configuration for straightforward integration on common 12V DC systems.
- Reflector aiming adjustment of about 7 degrees to fine-tune where the light lands.
- Approximate overall size of 7 x 3.75 x 3.5 in to help confirm fit and back-side clearance.
Installation and setup
Flush mounting typically involves cutting a rectangular opening, bedding the face so water cannot wick into the core, and fastening the unit securely to handle vibration underway. Use a marine sealant suited to your surface and take time to seal any exposed laminate or core material around the cutout.
Route wiring where it stays protected from chafe and heat, and leave enough service slack so the light can be pulled forward for access during maintenance.
Electrical and system integration
Halogen spreader lights draw more current than comparable LED fixtures, so cable sizing and voltage drop matter. Use tinned marine wire sized for the run length and load, and protect the circuit with appropriate switching and overcurrent protection for your installation. On longer runs, a relay placed closer to the light can help maintain brightness.
Use cases on board
Mount it under the aft edge of a hardtop to light the cockpit, under an arch for stern deck coverage, or forward-facing on the cabin top as a docking aid. The close-range pattern works well for tying up, cleaning fish boxes, sorting gear, and moving around the boat after dark.
This light is a good match for boaters who want a flush look and prefer a serviceable halogen setup for occasional night work or docking.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt spray from the lens and bezel after trips and inspect bedding and fasteners periodically. If light output drops, check connections for corrosion and replace the H3 halogen lamp as needed.
