Overview
The Garmin 010-11076-04CASE is a case of five NMEA 2000 backbone/drop cables, each 4 m (13 ft) long, for extending a Micro-C NMEA 2000 network backbone or reaching devices that sit farther off the trunk line.
It is the cable you use when your existing backbone pieces are not long enough between T-connectors, or when you need a longer run from the top of a T-connector to a device mounted away from the backbone. Because it uses NMEA 2000 Micro-C connectors, it matches the connector style found on many marine electronics networks.
Key features
- Case of 5 cables for building out multiple stations or keeping spares onboard
- 4 m (13 ft) length per cable to bridge longer runs through consoles, under decks, or across equipment bays
- NMEA 2000 Micro-C connectors for straightforward integration with Micro-C style networks
- Works as a backbone extension between T-connectors or as a device drop when used within NMEA 2000 drop-length limits
- Helps keep network joins in serviceable locations instead of forcing connections into tight cutouts
What’s included
- Five NMEA 2000 backbone/drop cables, 4 m (13 ft) each
Compatibility and fit
This cable fits NMEA 2000 networks that use Micro-C connectors. If your boat already has a backbone built with the larger Mini connector system, you will need a Micro-C to Mini conversion at the transition point.
When using one as a device drop, keep the total run from the T-connector to the device within NMEA 2000 guidelines. A 4 m drop is within the common maximum length for a single drop.
Installation and setup
Route the cable so it is supported along the run and not hanging by the connectors. In areas with vibration, add strain relief and avoid tight bends right at the connector backshell.
Thread the connector collar by hand until snug. Place joins where you can reach them later, and keep connectors out of spots that sit wet or take direct washdown whenever possible.
Use cases on board
This five-pack makes sense when you are extending a backbone from a lower helm to an upper helm, adding an AIS or engine gateway mounted away from the main electronics cluster, or building a clean NMEA 2000 layout with longer spans between T-connectors.
