Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Contura Water-Resistant DC Panel is a water-resistant DC bilge pump control panel for boats running 12V or 24V DC electrical systems. It combines bilge pump switching and circuit protection in one helm or utility-panel assembly, with configurations for two, three, or four bilge pumps.
The panel uses Contura III SPDT ON-OFF-(ON) switches with ON indicator LEDs embedded in the switches, 15A AGC fuses, and a watertight mounting gasket. It carries a 45A cumulative panel rating, with switch ratings of 20A at 12V DC and 15A at 24V DC, making it a practical fit for dedicated bilge pump control on cruising boats, fishing boats, and workboats where clear pump status matters.
Key features
- Supports 12V and 24V DC bilge pump systems, with two, three, or four control positions depending on the selected variant.
- IP66-rated panel with a watertight mounting gasket for helm, cockpit, and other exposed marine mounting locations.
- Pre-wired panel layout reduces installation work compared with building a bilge control panel from individual switches and fuse holders.
- Contura III SPDT ON-OFF-(ON) switches give each pump a clear control point, with ON indicator LEDs embedded in the switches.
- 15A AGC fuses and panel-mount AGC/MDL fuse holders provide circuit protection at the control panel.
- Gray finish matches the fused Contura panel style and suits both interior stations and above-deck installations.
- 45A cumulative panel rating, 18mA operating current per switch, and 3 in depth help confirm electrical load and mounting clearance before installation.
Variants
This Contura bilge pump control panel is offered in multiple position counts so the panel can match the number of bilge pumps or pump circuits on board.
All listed variants are gray, support 12V and 24V DC systems, use the same 3.75 in height and 3 in depth, and include Contura III ON-OFF-(ON) switching with 15A AGC fuse protection. The position count changes the number of pump circuits the panel is set up to control, and the panel width changes between the two-position and larger layouts.
- 8666: 4 Position. This configuration consolidates control and fuse protection for up to four bilge pumps, with a 5.25 in panel width for the larger control layout.
- 8664: 2 Position. This configuration covers up to two bilge pumps and uses a narrower 3.34 in panel width where dash or bulkhead space is limited.
- 8665: 3 Position. This configuration covers up to three bilge pumps and uses a 5.25 in panel width, giving an extra control position for vessels with an additional bilge zone or pump circuit.
Installation and setup
The pre-wired construction helps keep the back of the panel cleaner during installation, but the panel still needs proper marine DC wiring practices, correctly sized conductors, and accessible service clearance behind the mounting surface. The 3 in depth is especially important to check before cutting into a helm face, console, or equipment panel.
Because this panel is made for bilge pump control, it belongs in a location where the operator can quickly see pump status and reach the switches. The watertight mounting gasket and IP66 rating make it suitable for above-deck positions that may see spray or washdown, as long as the installation is sealed and wired correctly.
Compatibility and use on board
This panel is a good match for boats with separate bilge pump circuits that need grouped control at the helm or another central electrical station. It is especially useful on boats with multiple bilge areas, such as forward, midship, aft, or engine-room pump locations, where a single panel helps the operator monitor and control each pump without searching across the console.
Before ordering, confirm the number of pump circuits, the vessel voltage, available panel space, and required circuit protection strategy. The selected variant should match the number of bilge pump controls needed now, with enough room at the mounting location for the stated width and depth.
