Overview
The Victron Energy GSM900200100 is an active GPS antenna for adding GPS reception to a Victron GX LTE modem installation. It connects to the modem with an SMA male straight connector and works on the 1575.42 MHz GPS frequency, giving the GX system the position data needed for vessel tracking and geofencing through VRM.
The antenna has a magnetic mounting option and a 3.0 m RG-74 cable, which gives enough reach to place it away from enclosed electronics spaces or metal obstructions. On a boat, that makes it useful when the GX LTE modem is mounted near the electrical panel, inside a locker, or below deck while the antenna is placed where GPS reception is cleaner.
Key features
- Active GPS antenna for Victron GX LTE modem installations that need position reporting.
- Supports GPS tracking and geofencing when used with the modem and VRM Portal.
- 1575.42 MHz GPS frequency for standard GPS signal reception.
- 3.0 m RG-74 cable helps with antenna placement around consoles, lockers, and navigation areas.
- SMA male straight connector matches the GPS antenna connection used on the compatible Victron modem.
- Magnetic mounting option allows placement on a suitable metal surface without a permanent drilled mount.
- 50 ohm impedance for proper antenna matching with the modem connection.
Installation and setup
The antenna screws onto the GPS SMA connection on the GX LTE modem. For the best reception, place the antenna where it has the clearest practical view upward and is not buried behind heavy metal panels, battery banks, or dense wiring bundles.
The 3.0 m cable gives room to separate the antenna from the modem body, which is helpful on boats where the modem is installed for service access rather than for satellite visibility. Route the cable so it is not pinched by hatches, strained at the connector, or run tightly against high-current DC cabling.
Use on board
This antenna is a good match for boats using a Victron GX LTE modem to keep a battery, charging, or inverter system visible remotely while away from the dock. With GPS enabled, the system can report its location in VRM, which is useful for cruising boats, workboats, charter vessels, and mobile marine power systems that are monitored from shore.
It is not a chartplotter antenna or a standalone navigation receiver. Its role is to feed GPS position data to the Victron communications setup so the vessel or onboard power system can be located and monitored through the connected GX environment.
