Overview
The Garmin 010-12825-02 is a powered suction-cup mount that holds a compatible GPSMAP handheld where you can see it and keeps it on USB power while underway.
It secures to a smooth, flat surface and uses a one-handed quick-release cradle, so the handheld can come off the mount quickly when you leave the helm. The bracket uses an AMPS mounting pattern, which makes it easier to move the same cradle onto another base that matches that pattern.
Key features
- Powered mount with an integrated USB connection to keep the handheld charged while it is in the cradle
- One-handed quick-release cradle for fast removal when you take the handheld off the boat
- Suction cup base for smooth, flat mounting surfaces such as a windshield or cabin window
- AMPS mounting pattern on the bracket for compatibility with other AMPS-pattern mounting bases
- Compatible with GPSMAP 66i, GPSMAP 66sr, GPSMAP 67, and GPSMAP 67i handhelds
Compatibility and fit
This is a powered cradle and suction mount intended for Garmin GPSMAP 66i, GPSMAP 66sr, GPSMAP 67, and GPSMAP 67i handheld units. It is a good fit when you want your handheld GPS and communicator in a repeatable spot at the helm instead of sliding around in a pocket or cupholder.
Installation and setup
Mount it to a clean, smooth surface so the suction cup can hold properly, then route the cable so it will not snag on the wheel, throttle, or companionway. Connect the USB lead to a helm USB port or a marine USB power outlet; this keeps the handheld topped up during longer runs and makes it easy to dock the unit between legs.
Use on board
This mount makes sense for skippers who use a GPSMAP handheld as a backup navigator or an off-boat communicator and want it powered and visible while running. It also works well when the handheld moves between boat, truck, and shore, since the quick-release lets you undock it without fuss.
Maintenance and care
Keep the suction cup and mounting surface free of salt film and sunscreen residue, since both can reduce grip over time. If the boat lives in direct sun, removing the mount when it is not in use helps the suction cup stay compliant and keeps the mounting surface clean.
