Overview
The Simrad 000-00129-001 is a 2 m (6.5 ft) NSE/NSS video and data cable that breaks out the display’s 8-pin Video/Comms port into NMEA 0183 bare wires plus two female RCA video inputs.
It fits installs where you want to land serial NMEA 0183 wiring behind the helm and bring one or two video sources into the multifunction display without adding a separate junction box.
Since one end is a single display plug and the other end is a mix of RCA leads and loose conductors, it is best installed in a dry, serviceable space where the terminations can be supported and kept away from chafe and vibration.
Key features
- 2 m (6.5 ft) harness length for typical console and helm runs
- 8-pin connector on the display end for NSE and NSS Video/Comms ports
- Two female RCA leads for Video-In Port 1 and Video-In Port 2 connections
- Bare-wire NMEA 0183 leads for hard-wired serial integration with legacy electronics
- Helps keep video and NMEA 0183 terminations accessible behind the display for clean routing and troubleshooting
Compatibility and fit
This cable is used with Simrad NSE and NSS multifunction displays that accept the 8-pin Video/Comms connector. Confirm the matching port on the back of your display before ordering.
It is not a NMEA 2000 backbone/drop cable, SimNet cable, or Ethernet cable. The video connections are via the two RCA inputs, and the data connections on this harness are via the bare-wire NMEA 0183 leads.
Installation and setup
Connect the 8-pin end to the display’s Video/Comms port, then route the harness with a gentle bend radius and a little service loop so the connector is not under strain. Secure the run so it cannot rub on fiberglass edges or hardware.
For the NMEA 0183 side, terminate the bare wires to a protected terminal strip or use marine heat-shrink splices, then match talker and listener wiring between devices according to your electronics diagrams. For the video side, plug your video source(s) into the two female RCA leads and assign the correct video input inside the display’s menu.
On-board use
This harness makes sense on boats that are keeping NMEA 0183 gear such as a VHF radio, AIS, or other serial devices while running an NSE or NSS at the helm. It is also a straightforward way to bring video from a camera or other RCA source to the display for docking, cockpit, or engine-room viewing.
