Overview
The TACO Marine A11-0342BLY12D is an aluminum rub rail for protecting the hull and deck joint on boats while keeping the finished edge clean and traditional in appearance. This 12 ft rail has an anodized aluminum construction with a polished clear finish, a profile about 15/16 inch high by 1/2 inch wide, and pre-drilled countersunk holes for #8 screws on 6 inch centers.
It accepts the TACO V12-0342 flexible vinyl insert, which is used to cover the fastener line and add a cushion at the outside edge of the rail. The insert is sold separately, so it should be matched during replacement or refit work before installation begins.
Key features
- 12 ft aluminum rub rail for hull and deck joint protection on powerboats and other compatible marine applications.
- Anodized aluminum with a polished clear finish helps the rail stand up to saltwater exposure while keeping a bright metal look.
- Profile measures about 15/16 inch high by 1/2 inch wide for a low, classic rub rail edge.
- Pre-drilled and countersunk for #8 flat or oval head screws on 6 inch centers, which helps keep installation spacing consistent.
- Accepts TACO V12-0342 flexible vinyl insert to cover fasteners and add impact absorption at docks, pilings, and alongside other boats.
- Can be formed around tight radius bends during installation when fitted with proper tools and care.
Installation and fit
This rail is a practical choice for rub rail replacement when the existing profile and insert style match the boat. Before ordering, compare the height, width, screw spacing, and insert profile against the rail being replaced, especially on older hulls where factory profiles can vary by model year.
During installation, the rail should be dry-fitted around the bow and corners before final fastening. The pre-drilled countersunk holes help guide screw placement, while the separate vinyl insert covers the fasteners after the rail is secured.
Use on board
On a working boat, the rub rail takes the everyday contact that happens around docks, trailers, pilings, and rafting situations. This aluminum profile suits owners who want a metal rub rail with a polished appearance and a replaceable vinyl insert rather than an all-vinyl edge.
