Overview
The TACO Marine A50-0197TAL12D is a 12 ft aluminum rub rail section for protecting and finishing the hull edge, deck joint, or butted seams on a boat. It measures 1 in high by 3/16 in wide and has a polished clear anodized finish that suits exterior marine trim where a clean metal edge is preferred.
This flat-back aluminum profile is drilled and countersunk for #6 fasteners on 6 in centers, which helps keep installation spacing consistent along the run. It can be used as edge molding or a seam binder, and the profile is made to bend and form around tighter radiuses during fitting.
Key features
- 12 ft aluminum rub rail section for hull edges, deck joints, and seam coverage.
- 1 in by 3/16 in profile gives the boat a low-profile metal trim line without using a separate insert.
- Polished clear anodized finish helps the aluminum stand up to normal marine exposure.
- Drilled and countersunk for #6 screws on 6 in centers to support a clean fastening layout.
- Flat-back shape works well on flat surfaces and along butted seams.
- Aluminum profile can be bent and formed during installation where the hull or deck edge has a tighter radius.
Installation and fit
Before ordering or cutting, match the 1 in by 3/16 in profile to the existing rub rail footprint or the area being covered. On replacement jobs, check the height, width, screw spacing, and bend radius against the original trim so the new rail lands cleanly over old fastener holes or seam lines.
For installation, dry-fit the rail along the hull edge first and work gradually around corners rather than forcing the profile into place. Because this is a 12 ft rigid aluminum length, handling, storage, and shipping space should be considered before installation day.
Use cases on board
This rub rail is a practical fit for owners restoring classic metal trim, replacing damaged aluminum edge molding, or adding a finished protective edge to small boats, skiffs, tenders, and other fiberglass or aluminum applications where the size and fastening pattern match the job.
