Overview
The Attwood Marine 10796-3 is a pair of angled slat sockets for mounting boat cover support bows made from fiberglass, aluminum, or wood. The sockets are made from ZAMAK, installation uses #10 fasteners, and each socket sits against a plastic backing plate that helps protect the boat finish at the mounting point.
This hardware gives a cover support bow a fixed place to land so the bow can hold shape under a mooring or storage cover. When an old socket is cracked, loose, or rubbing the gelcoat, replacing it can help the bow sit correctly again and keep the cover from sagging across the cockpit or bow seating area.
Key features
- Angled socket shape for boat cover support bows
- Fits fiberglass, aluminum, and wood bows
- ZAMAK construction with plastic backing plate to reduce contact against the boat finish
- Sold as a pair for two-point bow mounting
- Installation uses #10 fasteners
Compatibility and fit
These sockets are for cover-support hardware, not for seat mounts, rail fittings, or bimini frame hardware. Fit depends on the bow material and the shape of the bow end, so it helps to match the angled socket style to the hardware already on the boat before drilling new holes.
Because the socket accepts fiberglass, aluminum, and wood bows, it suits many runabouts, fishing boats, and older trailer boats that use a removable support bow under the cover. It is a sensible replacement when the bow itself is still usable and the mounting sockets are the worn part.
Installation and setup
Mount the plastic backing plate against the finished surface so the socket does not rub directly on gelcoat or paint. Keep the socket aligned with the natural angle of the support bow so the bow seats fully without side load on the fasteners.
Before installation, check the mounting area for enlarged holes, surface cracks, or a weak substrate left by loose cover hardware. A sound mounting surface and correctly sized #10 fasteners help the socket stay in place as the boat moves on the trailer, at the dock, or under a cover in storage.
